Printer stand question

Printer stand question

2006-02-13 by how786

I just bought a new printer stand online. It is a Safco product. I
liked it because it has 4 shelves for storing papers under the top
printer shelf.
My problem is that the stand itself rocks back and forth ever so
slightly as the printer is printing. Although I see no adverse effects
on the prints, I don't imagine this is a good thing. :)

Anyone know where I can get a good, solid wood stand?
It is for a 2400 btw.

  Regards
  Howard

Could you reasonably turn the printer 90 degrees? If so, try that to see if
it’s better.

Some might say the movement is a good thing. Helps keep the inks in suspension.

Yes, but the acceleration of the head may actually be lower with the printer
and stand moving. Hmmmm

.
Having the printer on a flat stable base would seem to be good advice;
besides, it’s just plain annoying to see it moving like that. It probably
does not matter that the stand has some rocking, but I tied mine to a heavy
desk to stop if from swaying.

Probably correct since the stands that Epson sells don't allow the printer to 'shake' when it prints.

This has been my understanding, and looks like it might actually work
to an extent, although it seems more likely that the stand came first
and the fact that the printer shakes the stand came second. Maybe
the agitation was a happy side effect of not having to build a more
expensive stand that wouldn't shake.

Oh yeah, that was the question. :-)
How about the 30" Storage Cabinet from Bush. www.bushfurniture.com.
Available from Staples, etc.

Best regards,
