Black Only printing on the R2400

Black Only printing on the R2400

2006-03-27 by Peter Marquis-Kyle

I understand that the Epson 2400 driver doesn't do Black Only printing.
What about using QTR for this?

My two 1160s are overdue for retirement, and I'm considering replacement
options. The 2400 looks like a good do-it-all A3 size printer that can
do both colour and B&W. But I'm interested in ways to keep ink costs
down, and in the aesthetic attractions of BO printing.

Hello Peter,

I tried it last fall. It works, but the results were very poor due to
very coarse dot pattern. Roy said that subsequent versions have
better 2400 handling, but I've been too busy to test it. I hope to get
back to it some day, but I don't use QTR normally so haven't kept up
with the latest versions.

I have hope that the 2400 can be made to work. Right now I"m using an
R200 for BO but am limited to letter size, but I do my proofing with
it (in BO mode) and it saves a lot on ink costs. I paid $79 for it so
it has probably already paid for itself in that alone.

Clayton
