Innova Smooth Cotton and Hahnemuhle Photo Rag

Innova Smooth Cotton and Hahnemuhle Photo Rag

2006-04-04 by jimrohan2002

Hi all. I am a new poster to this group and here is my dilemna.
There seems to be a shortage (read: none) of 44' Hahnemuhle Photo Rag at this time.
I just ordered some Innova Smooth Cotton from our buddy Jim Doyle at Shades of Paper
which I am hoping I can use with MIS Ultratone inks I am running on my 9600 in place of
the HPR with (Paul Roark's) curves. Has anyone had any experience with this combination,
or do specific curves exist for this paper (Paul?)
Thanks in advance,

Jim Rohan

They are very, very similar. You are not going to have trouble with
the Smooth Cotton and any curve designed for monochrome, even the color
profiles are quite close. I know Roy has curves for QTR for both
papers for my K6 inkset, don't know about UT inks. You should be fine
though.

Jim,

I'm not sure what UT inkset you're using, but if there are any Permajet
curves posted, those should work. Permajet uses Innova coating. The Smooth
Cotton is probably the same as PJ Omega.

I am using the UT7 inkset on my 9600. Where would I find any Permajet curves that might
be posted?
Thanks.

RE: [Digital BW] Innova Smooth Cotton and Hahnemuhle Photo Rag

Jim,

> I am using the UT7 inkset on my 9600. Where would I find any Permajet
> curves that might be posted?

My 7600 UT-7 Readme file with the settings is at
http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/UT7-7600-Readme.htm

The 9600 should use these settings.

The curves download page is at
http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/UT7-7600-curves.html

Again, the 9600 should work fine with these.

(By the way, if the flat spots are removed from the curves they can be
embedded into an ICC with Roy's "Create ICC." This allows the system to be
linearized, "color managed" in terms of matching the monitor to the g/s
ramp, and print from grayscale files. This is what I'm doing from now on.)

Hope this helps.
