R800 and BO

R800 and BO

2006-05-06 by Stephen Kobrin

I printed black only on my R800 using QTR on Kirkland glossy paper
using the EEM black curve but setting the paper type to "premium
glossy paper." Surprisingly, the result was reasonable: it requires
only a few adjustments in QTR or PS. The problem is that without being
able to apply the gloss optimizer coat there is some bronzing.

Its it possible to set the R800 up to print with the gloss coat only?
The Epson driver does not allow BO printing, so that is out. I know
that I could spray, but I would prefer to use the printer's
application of gloss if possible.

I was impressed with BO on the R800 as compared to my 1280.

Yes, you should be able to do this by creating a simple QTR profile
with a single curve for GLOP then overprint your image with a solid
block of gray.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
