Hi zonepeter:
For sharpness and clarity, you want glossy paper. For best quality and
longevity, use Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper. Epson Glossy Photo Paper
(not premium) is ok, but not as heavy.

Subject: [Digital BW] OT: What paper to use

I am sorry this is off topic, but I know someone here can give me a
good answer.
I need to print some pictures (in color, using a 1280 with OEM inks)
that will be laminated. They are technical pictures and sharpness and
clarity are what is important.
Should I use a glossy or matte paper?

Thanks so much, and again I apologise for bieng off topic.

ZonePeter,

Matte papers being of my liking I can tell you that a
1280 with OEM inks and Premium Glossy will give you
razor-sharp images and excellent color!
Before owning a 9800, that's what I used to print
portfolio images and have no complaints at all!

Pablo

For a gloss like this I have been testing Hawk Mountain Sharpwing
which seems to perform as well as any of the others. Also, it seems a
bit less blue than the Ilford equivalent. I really don't understand
why all these papers are made with so much bluing OBAs, it's
definitely NOT attractive.
The price is much more reasonable then the others as well, and you
should feel good about supporting a hard working smaller company with
excellent alternative products. Untill Sharpwing for the K3s I have
not had the oportunity to support them much due to the Piezotone/Hanna
love affair.

Thanks to all for responding. Sounds like I'll use a glossy paper.
Probably something I can pick up locally, since this is for work and
I want to keep it simple.
Thanks again,
Peter
