OK I will take my turn wearing the "stupid" sign. I've been trying to get my output to actually be centered horizontally and vertically with my Epson R2400. I am printing from Photoshop CS2. I making use of the ICC profiles. Is there something that everyone else knows that I obviously don't?

On my dialogue there is a check box to center the image. Check that box and then go the to page set up and go to the printer properties where you select paper type, print quality etc. I select the "paper" tab and check the "centered" box under the "Printable Area". If I only select the the center image from the PS print dialogue, my images aren't centered. Hope it works for you. Earl

I've wondered about this, too. Pretty bizarre that my much older Epson printers have an option in the printer driver to CENTER the image. Why the 2400 doesn't have this is beyond me. There's a check box in the "Print with Preview" section. Evan In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "how786" <how786@...> wrote: > > I've wondered about this, too. > Pretty bizarre that my much older Epson printers have an option in the

The R2400 is the first Epson printer, out of the 3 I've had, that centres its images _correctly_, as long as I check the 'Center Image' box in the PS 'Print With Preview' dialog. I don't know why your image isn't centred correctly, unless the physical paper size differs from the paper size configured in the Epson driver, or you haven't checked the box in PS. There are some annoying aspects to the driver, but, in my experience, centring the image isn't one of them. There is a page called Page Set Up that will come up in PS when hitting print w/preview. I believe it is a Mac page as it comes up in other programs before the Epson page. On this page are a number of defaults, Settings; Format For, etc. The default, Format For, will often go to Any Printer, rather than the Epson R220 I have installed. When it goes to Any Printer I will have an offset of about a quarter inch even though the Center box is ticked on the Epson Driver Page that follows. I have to remember to go to this page first and check that My Printer is defaulted to and not Any Printer even though I am using the same page orientation, etc. as the last time I printed. Worth a check.

I think you may have identified my issue. I am using a Mac running OS X. After reading your posting I remember seeing that same dialog box and seeing the "Any Printer". I am going to experiment and see if I can replicate my issue paying attention to what is in that dialog box.
