Hey, Paul has page on his site where he describes some of the various toning options that are available by using a mixture of warm and neutral inks... http://home1.gte.net/res0a2zt/V-tone.html I haven't ordered any of the warm inks yet, but if my goal is to create something similar to the bottom left image, what ink positions should be using the warm inks? Thanks, Brian http://www.brianchapmanphotography.com

I realize now that I probably didn't provide enough info in my original email... I'm using the R220 printer and the UT-R2 inksets. I currently have the full neutral set installed in my printer. I'm interested in what positions I should use warm cartridges to match some of the examples in the link below. The image at the link below has a Lab b* of about 7. Pure carbon is just a bit over 7 on EEM. So, that would be a full set of R2 warm carts. Paul www.PaulRoark.com

Thanks Paul! So is the image on the bottom right warmer than pure carbon (I thought that would be the result of the full warm inkset)? Also, it sounds like I could create the same "tone" (bottom left image) using the UT-3D inks? I'm debating about switching (when carts are available) based on my other issue and your recommended solutions (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/message/7 7460) Thanks again! It is warmer than the carbon -- about twice as warm and more toward the red side. > Also, it sounds like I could create the same "tone" (bottom left > image) using the UT-3D inks? Yes. I have not posted carbon profiles, but the 3D inkset can print carbon just like the previous variable-tone inksets. Paul www.PaulRoark.com
