Re: [Digital BW] Re: Illford Gallerie

Thanks Steve....your advice is well taken. I too have tried the Ilford inkjet papers and their characteristics are not like the original Galerie. I plan to try some Hahnemuhle, Bradford and Hawk Mountain papers. Do you have any experience with these? I print on an Epson 2200 with Quadtone RIP. I just ordered a set of Piezography Neutral K7 cartridges. Ron

-------------- Original message -------------- From: "Steven Karafyllakis" <stevekphoto@...> Hi Ron; The original Galerie was a beautiful warmish FB paper, I used it a few times and loved it when I did; Unfortunately, the inkjet papers by the same name have nothing in common with it, except the name. The inkjet papers are RC, and resemble Ilford's Multigrade RC papers. Some of the new generation of cotton glossy and semi-gloss papers get a lot closer, but we're still not quite there yet, most of us are still looking for the right combination of longevity, Dmax, brightness, base color and surface texture that made many of the halide papers so nice. Of course, that wasn't a single look, it was a range, so best advice is try as many as you can and see what rings your bell.
