<< Hello all.

I moved into the digital darkroom a few months ago and I've learned a
lot from this and related lists. I now have a question and hope that
somebody may advise me. Is there special ways to "proofread" a
picture without printing it on expensive papers. Is there okay to
print it on cheaper paper and if so what are the things one should
keep in mind. I usually make print on EAM papers with a 1290 printer.

Thanks,

Hi Jean:

I'd recommend that you print sections of your image on the paper you plan to
use for the best final output. You'll not only save paper, but ink and time
as well.

If you use Photoshop, you can select an area of your picture with the square
marquee and then in the driver, check Print Selected Area. The area you
selected will now print in the center of the sheet (or change the paper size
to 4"x4" and it will print in the bottom right hand corner as it comes out of
the printer. Print Options offers further control.

I have a lengthy tutorial on this in the first installment of my monthly
newsletter called "Inkjet Tip of the Month Club". I started another
newsletter months ago for my consulting clients and past students, but after
some requests by others to join, I decided to have a separate one open to
anyone.

A new issue will come monthly with information on color and b/w inkjet
trends, tips, tutorials, great books/magazines and special offers from
various merchants. The newsletter also helps me to keep in touch with a
cross-section of friends in many of the arts.

If you or any other subscriber would like to join, please send e-mail to:

Inkjettips-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

-Just to clarify, this is a newsletter, not an open forum, and I encourage
any information from the newsletter to be discussed here on Digital BW or
other newsgroups if you feel that it is appropriate. I also hope people will
quote sections from my newsletters and share them with other newsgroups if
they think it will benefit their members. If so, please just indicate from
where the information originated.

All the best!
