Monitor/Printer calibration

Monitor/Printer calibration

2006-08-15 by cab938

I'm thinking of buying a spyder or other hardware calibration tool. I'm
currently running a Dell 2007FP monitor with a epson 1280 with UT2
inkset, using a couple of different papers (costco kirkland and red
river aroura). I'm looking for a cheap and (mostly) easy way to do
calibration so I've got a fairly good wysiwyg environment.

My question: Does black and white printing favour any particular
hardware calibration tool and, if so, can anyone give some suggestions
as to what I should be looking at getting?

Tia,

Chris

Hi Chris - I can't speak for if anything favors B&W vs. color - I have
a similar monitor (Sony 21") and use/recommend Monaco Optipix for
monitor calibration. Very simple to use and accurate color
calibration. One tip that was really helpful was to measure the
ambient light by pointing at a piece of white paper that reflects the
ambient light.
