Agfa Scala developing

Agfa Scala developing

2006-09-10 by Greg

I was looking around APUG and found a post about Scala. Turns out that
DR5 is not the only game in town:
http://www.mainphoto.com/services/agfa_scala_film_processing.htm

Since Yahoo will probably kill that link, go to www.mainphoto.com and
scroll down the page.

i have known for a while that Main Photo does great work too. The
question for me is where do you find Scala these days??

When I tried to order some 120 recently the guy started laughing softly
and told me "Hey man Agfa has been out of business for a while."

Anyone have any ideas on acquiring some 120 Scala.

TIA,
Jerry

I can only add misgivings to DR5. I tried them once with some "free" scala
that I had gotten from a friend. Those two rolls cost me over 70.00 in the
end : ( It took quite a while for billing and they sent them back first
over night when I had requested Fed Ex saver three day on my account number.
They did an OK job but I don't plan on sending any work back any time soon.

I have used DR5 exclusively over the last year. DR5
is only about a mile from me. David has been
extremely helpful as I've had to do a bunch of tests
strips since I do long exposure. Scans beautifully.
I'm using TXP, so I cant comment on Scala, though I do
know in talking to David that his reversal process is
entirely chemical, whereas the typical Scala approach
uses light to reverse the image.

B&H has it in stock for $6.49. I have meant to try it for some time. As I
recall, this is the film Tom Millea went to when Polaroid 35mm instant was
discontinued.
