I have an Epson 4000pro and I am looking for a RIP which could let me
drive each cart individually.
For example : I would like to use one Black together with Light Black,
or Magenta, Blue and Light Black ect...
Anyone could advise ?

Thanks
Michel

Hello,

I have the model before the 4000 and when I got it I wondered about driving
the cart, individually, too.

And also, why can't I just use 4 black carts. Why does it have to be keyed
to the slot??

In both cases you might want to try Quadtone RIP. Also possibly the
Bowhaus RIP, and in the case of the 4000 the Evolution RIP from
Digifab. All or any of those may do what you want to do, but since
there was little description of what you really want, it's hard to
give better suggestions.

Hello Greg,

Thanks for your reply.
What I want to do is to print with one single cart if I want to, or two carts or three, and regulate the amount of ink for each individually.

The limitation of the 4000 is not having both the MK and the
PK channel printing at the same time. Even the Quadtone RIP
can't help there if I recall it correctly. For the rest you
get a good tool for a nice price.

As others have said, your best bet is probably Quadtone RIP or the
Bowhaus RIP for what you want to do. The Evolution RIP can probably be
run with just a single channel, but I've never tried it (and not really
sure what the newest version offers yet).

You can get a demo of the Evolution RIP from Digifab, and you can get
QTR from the link that Ernst gave. Not sure if the Bowhaus RIP has a
demo/trial version. You may also want some sort of spectrophotometer to
measure test charts in order to get the most from any of these RIPs.

I bought QTR long time ago and didn't get anything interesting from it, but since then things might have changed, I am going to look onto it again.

Thanks to all
