Richard,

Are you using the advanced Photo RPM mode? Also, what media choice are you
using—try Premium Photo Glossy Photo Paper setting. I use the R2400 all the
time and I don't get any banding on digital negatives. Also, make sure your
file is 360 ppi.

Thanks Mark,
I'm using PermaJet (fine art) Transparency OHP Transfer
Film (165u). What media do you use, may I ask? Also, why must the
file be 360ppi? Do you know where I might find the 'Golden Settings'
for this printer/media setup?

All the best

Hi Richard,

My tests have shown that 360 ppi files are optimum for these printers. Some
might argue 720 ppi, but I haven't yet found that to be the case. I use a
target grid with my system to test this that has a checkerboard pattern.

I use the Pictorico OHP film and am in the process of getting a roll of the
new Ultra Premium OHP Film. I tested the prototype for this film for
Pictorico for negatives for Platinum/Palladium—and no, hehehehe they DON'T pay me to
do that or endorse the product.

Best Wishes,
Mark Nelson

An Epson native printer driver resolution is 720ppi. But you only get that
resolution when you select "finest detail" in the driver setup, otherwise
you get 360ppi. You can test this with the test images here
http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/quality/
Images with high frequency data (think cacti spikes) show a clear difference
printed at 720 vs 360.

On the 4800 its in the Advanced B&W custom set up panel.
I guess the same place in the 2400. Check out the manual or maybe someone
with a 2400 can point you to it.

I also saw an improvement with my 4800 making dig negs when setting to 2880
out put instead of 1440. There was a very slight banding issue that went
away with the switch.

I have an R2400, and I don't see a "finest detail" setting. Where would
it be?

You will get a better negative with Photo RPM instead of Best Photo.
