New Printer / Epson 2200 stop firing on ALL nozzles
2006-10-25 by evanj1969
as of tonight, my Epson 2200 just stop firing on ALL nozzles (it's
been banding very bad lately ... i guess it was just time)
my 3 options are...
1. another used 2200 off of ebay (to be setup with UT-3D or UT-R2
and swap out color carts when needed)
2. a used or refurbished R1800 (i am unsure how the UT-3D would
work, if at all, with the R1800 driver ..... having C/M and blue/red
positions as opposed to C/Lc & M/Lm) ... also i have no need for the
GO (Glop) as a always spray my prints, nor do i print on matte stock.
3. buy a 2400 with a few possible options.
a. load it with the MIS K4 inks (seems much more cost effective)
and MAYBE use the UT-3D LK and LLK (somewhat neutralized) in those
respective positions. the hope there would be, with 3 Blacks and the
Lc/Lm i could use QTR to recreate what i have done with the UT-3D
inks in my 2200. (slightly cool / neutral, but a very controlled
slope) then of course, i'd have to have custom profiles made for my
color.
b. just swap out the UT-3D and color when needed.
c. just use the Epson inks and hope QTR will get me where i want
to be. (least viable option, as i never had much luck achieving what
i desired with the 2200 and OEM inks with QTR ..... not to mention
the uncontrollable banding i got with QTR)
if the 3800 was available now, MIS had carts and inks ready (i
assume the inks will be K3 inks) and any kinks worked out, i'd
probably go that rout. just sell off the OEM inks on ebay and i have
a 3800 for "about" the same price as a new 2400.
it may be some time (no one knows how long) before all the after
market problems are worked out.
any thoughts would be appreciated ....
thanks
