R220 no longer recognizes MIS carts

After a month or so of not using my R220 with MIS UT-R2 inks I turned on the printer. The printer whirred and moved the carts as usual but then stopped with a solid red light on. The status monitor came up with the message "Ink cartridges cannot be recognized" Black: T0481 Cyan: T0482 Light Cyan: T0485 Magenta: T0483 Light Magenta: T0486 Yellow: T0484 The genuine EPSON ink cartridges listed above are recommended for replacement. Click the How to button for ink cartridge installation instructions. I removed and put back in all the cartridges. No difference. I swapped the MK for the PK but no difference. I tried resetting the chips on two of the cartridges. The resetter glowed green, but no difference. I turned off the computer and printer and unplugged the printer power and USB cable. I removed and replaced the carts. I plugged it back in and turned the printer on. No difference. Does anyone have any idea why it's doing this and how to fix it? I don't have any Epson carts to test it with as I've only used MIS.
