Dry up

I was just thinking about how much has changed compared to the darkroom. One thing that has completely reversed is that we now have "dry up" instead of "dry down". I remember how great it was to have a Zone VI cold light controller with a dry down compensation knob. My favorite paper had 7.5% dry down. I would do test prints with the knob on 0, then put it on -7.5% for the final print, which reduced the light output. The print would look too light while wet but would dry down to exactly the desired density. I've just been tweaking a dark area in an image to get the separation I want. The area looks too dark when it first emerges from the printer, but after dry up it has the desired density. Similar, but different.
