If writing to the card doesn't work:  Use Epson's network 
installer on your system and press the small black button on 
the card when the printer is on and has paper, read the print 
it produces, use that information for the software settings. 
So a bit the other way around. The Epson network software 
should set the card normally but this is another route.

That's what I remember of installing my 9000's on the network.

1. Print out the current settings by pressing the button on the back 
of the network card.  Among others things, this will show you the mac 
address of the card.  In my example, my mac address is '00-00-48-ac-1a-ce'.

2. Issue an 'arp' command, with the new address that you want for the 
card, and the mac address.  In my example
    arp -s 192.168.1.151 00-00-48-ac-1a-ce
