Phatte Black program

2006-11-19 by eas1906_5

I recently purchased an Epson 4800 and have been very satisfied with my
B&W prints thus far, except for the annoying fact of having to switch
between matte black & photo black ink cartridges. I came across
Colorbyte's Phatte Black program that allows one to have both matte &
photo black in at the same time by replacing the light-light black
cartridge. Does anyone know if this is a stand-alone program or is it
solely an add-on to the ImagePrintV6(or V6.1) RIP? It would be great to
take advantage of this program w/o having to pay almost $900 for the
RIP. If it is an add-on to ImagePrint does anyone know of any similar
programs that accomplish the same thing? Thanks in advance for any
insights or advice.

You should be able to make this with any decent RIP that allows head
mapping. Check the Evolution RIP from Digifab, it's only $500 for the
4800.

It's an optional operatig mode. You need to use the Patte Black profiles, and a compatible ink cart to make it all work.
