QTR- K7-R2400 PWP Settings
2006-12-27 by Grant Fergeson
I am new to this ink and RIP, having used only Epson inks and the Advanced Black and White driver previously. The Print with Preview (PWP) setting recommendations from Piezography are below and quite different from the tutorial, which refers I gather, to using the Epson K3 inks with QTR. The recommended settings from Piezography for the PWP dialogue using K7 inks and QTR are: Doc profile: Gray Gamma 2.2 Color handling: Let Printer determine color Printer Profile: none Rendering intent: ????????? - none indicated, also, no black point can be assigned because of Color handling. I used "Perceptual". Piezo indicated that this is at my discretion and offered no recommendation. Settings for the PWP dialogue that came from the QTR tutorial that came with my down load: Doc profile: Gray Gamma 2.2 Color Handling: Let photoshop determine colors Printer Profile: QTR - Gray Matte paper Rendering Intent: "Perceptual" w/ black point So far my prints have looked good using the Piezo settings for their K7 inks, although in a couple of cases there was a slight yellow cast in the mid grey tones to the first print of a series. I did use QTR's flush image which looked great. Finally, we had a power outage that occurred during a print and the subsequent prints all have fine bands which I have traced to clogged headnozzles.I have had the 2400 for two years and never had a clogged nozzle before, I hope it isn't an issue with the K7 inks. I still have my enlarger in the closet! I realize that in this forum there are many experienced users for whom this is something simple and old hat, but I hope someone can give me the benefit of their experience, discuss the way these PWP settings work and and let me know what PWP or other settings they have been successful with for the R2400 and the K7 inkset. I use Apple OSX, APS CS2, printing on Hahnemuhle Photorag 308g Thanks, Grant
