DTP41-compatible step tablet

DTP41-compatible step tablet

2007-01-15 by Philip Schwartz

Does anyone have a step wedge of at least 21 steps that can be auto
scanned by a DTP41?
I have the target spec and can create one from scratch, but I could
save some time if someone has a target they wouldn't mind sharing.

It's supported in Xrite's Colorport, so you can just import the file
from QTR and build your targets. Then use Colorport to measure and
save as a CGATS text file which can be parsed by the create ICC
software (so I assume it can be parsed by QTR).

Thanks, I forget all about Colorport. I think it will allow you to
specify new patches and output a new target in the correct format. I
will give this a try.

It will, just select your device, and then your color space, and then
select the "new" patch set. Now you can enter the values of you
patches, or you can import a text file in the correct format. Save
(twice) and you are done and ready to print.

Thanks. Creating and scanning a target using Colorport was simple, and
the numbers agree with the measurements I get from my X-Rite 810. Only
real issue is that with the formatting requirements I can only get two
targets per page. I can get at least 7 wedges/page that I can read
with the 810, so my current method burns a whole lot less paper, and I
can still use Toolcrib to send the numbers directly to Excel and
Photoshop. Still, it's useful to know how to do this with the DTP41
and it may come in useful in the future.

Did you try selecting properties next to the measurement device and
changing the patch size and header and trailer to ther minimum? I'm
can get a target with 21 patches (plus the black starting block) onto
a letter size page in portrait mode. A little photoshop work to move
that single row around and it looks like you could fit about 7 per
sheet. The above was done with a .5 inch border around the entire paper.

The smallest I could get the 51 patch was 3 rows.

You may be right -- my target had two rows, though the patches were
pretty small, so I may be able to improve the formatting.
