MISPro ink with Epson 2200

MISPro ink with Epson 2200

2007-01-26 by patchy6513

I thinking of using MISPRO ink for my Epson 2200. I will mainly print
on Archival Matt.

For members who made the switch:

How do these inks behave in the printer?
Any problems with clogging or banding?
How is the color compared to OEM inks?
Where can I find profiles for archival matt paper?
Any other recommendation?

Thanks for your replies,

Ingo

Since this is a B&W list, I did a quick search on the EpsonWideFormat
list, and got a few hits. Here's one fellow who thinks MIS PRO has
"vastly less clogs"

And a longer post that says the MIS PRO are comparable to Epson for
fading, warns you'll need to reprofile, etc.

Here's someone who does nothing but tweak the yellow to get MIS PRO
colors to his satisfaction.

Unless Epson's come up with a replacement for Enhanced Matte there's
no such thing as "archival matte". Epson Enhanced Matte seems less
"archival" than other matte photo papers in that it yellows within months.

In three years of careless use (leave it on for weeks without use,
then use it) with OEM Epson pigments I've had ONE clog with my 2200
and it was easy to eliminate. Zero banding. And of course the color is
as good as one's personal visual skills.

I just got MISPRO inks for my R220 and am waiting for new profiles
for it as they differ enough from the Epson inks to need custom
profiles. No issues with clogs or banding.

I didn't find the canned profiles on MIS's site accurate
unfortunately so I'm going to order my own.

I'd also suggest avoiding Epson Enhanced Matte as there are other
equally nice papers that are longer-lived. Try the Paul Roark
sample pack on inksupply.com for starters to see which paper types
you like.
