[Digital BW] Condensation Inside CIS Bottle

The MIS VM black, like Piezo inks, uses a more volatile co-solvent base.
(You may have noticed a rather strong smell with the MIS VM black.)  The MIS
VM midtones do not use this base.  So, you'll more likely see condensation
in the black bottle than in the midtones.

As far as I can tell, the volatile base does not cause problems with the
black ink.  In the Piezo midtones I think it is part of the problem.
However, with the black ink, neither the Piezo nor MIS VM inksets appear to
be having problems with it.

The co-solvent base could be part of the ink's relatively good performance
characteristics.  It's faster drying leaves more of the particles on the
surface of the paper.  (Some Iris printers used to put little fans at the
heads to dry the ink as fast as possible to get better blacks.)  Also, the
co-solvent base is said to cause the ink particles to clump together on the
paper more.  This clumping may account for part of the superior
fade-resistance the MIS VM black shows.

Thanks for the response, Paul. Sounds like I dont' need to worry 
about the condensation.

And, by the way, when I'm ready to order ink again, it'll be the new 
neutral-sepia mix. I'm looking forward to trying it and appreciate 
all the work you've done on this. Thanks!

I wrote once but didnt see my message here.  Maybe someone deleted my 
message.

I am having this problem too.  I saw it on more than on lid not just 
the black.  I dont remember what other bottle it was.  I will watch 
out for that.  I can't seem to relate it to temperature changes or 
anything.

Is anyone else having this problem?  It seems to be there then go 
away then come back.  It seems like a lot to me.

I have been watching for density variations in my prints - has anyone 
else seen this?  Also it sounds pretty lame to say that clumping is a 
feature not a flaw.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
