Digital BW, The Print

I am trying to print on USFA A3+ and Hahnemuhle photo Rag 308 A4. I
occasionally get the printer to take the A3+ but it just won't take the A4.
I accept that this is operator error but I have been unable to find a step
by step printing procedure for loading the paper. I am using the supplied
feed mechanism for the rear feed slot. What I don't know is how far down to
slide the paper. All the way in, part way in? When do I feed the paper in,
prior to printing after I have gone through the print dialogue? I believe I
have the correct settings in the Epson driver.  If anyone can help or
provide me with a link I would be grateful,

I had many, many paper feed problems with my 2400, prior to that with a
2200. Matte paper was particularly bad and I found no reliable solution. It
got worse the longer I had the printer.

Cleaning the rubber pinch roller with a cotton swap and alcohol seemed to
help sometimes but it was never permanent.

I gave up. I hope Epson did a better job in the 3800 which I now own.
