Neither are ideal for B&W; the PRO9000 uses dye inks that shift tone significantly with differing light sources. The HP B9180 does not use a light black ink for light areas in its color mode, so it prints all light grays with color inks. Its B&W mode is supposed to eliminate this issue, but has no tonal control, and would have to print light grays entirely from dark gray ink. The Epson 2400 and 3800 are better B&W printing choices.
