QTR Grey Lab icc

2007-06-07 by Richard Smallfield

Hi,
I've always edited for QTR in QTR Grey Lab colour space and printed using QTR Grey Matte.

I do this because it said to do it in the instructions.

Printing in Grey Matte.icc makes sense, but what difference would it make if I edited in Grey Gamma 2.2 as, when it is converted to QTR Grey Matte for printing, surely it will end up the same?

It's just a nuisance to have to convert to Grey Gamma 2.2 all the time whenever I want an image to display correctly on someone else's computer.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard

This is not at all necessary. Edit in the workspace you prefer and convert
to the output space ³on-the-fly² at printing. I use Gray Gamma 2.2 because
it¹s a nice subset of Adobe RGB to which I send files from Adobe Camera Raw
that are destined for B&W printing. (I use Pro Photo RGB for colour work.)
If possible, I would not use QTR Grey Matte as your print space but rather
use a profile generated for your printer. For this you need a densitometer
at least.
