Smaller epson printers

Smaller epson printers

2007-08-11 by Tim Timmermans

I'm considering adding a smaller printer like the epson r260 for small
projects and non-exhibit prints.

Is there an alternative to the Claria inks? They are super expensive.

I have a shot to buy the 260 new in box for $50. I like the CD
printing feature and it would be nice not to use my main printer for
8x10's.

Thanks,

Tim

p.s. Check out the new Simon and Schuster book "Burning Book" about
the Burning Man festival. Very in depth book about this beautiful,
crazy event in the Nevada desert.

It features 20 of my photographs and countless more from some top
notch photographers from around the world. Only one guy had more
photos than I did but several of mine are two page images which is cool.

Tim;

There are no re-fillable carts or resetters yet, but several vendors
(including MIS) are selling CIS units with auto-reset chips. The 260
does a fine job, its only drawback is in fact the ink situation.
Though the Claria test print I have is holding up very well, no
visible fading or shifting after 6 mos of hanging around.

Not sure about the quality. Does this printer have the bronzing issues
of the 1800? Not all that important as my use of this printer is not
for exhibit prints but it may be used for an informal portfolio.

No bronzing issues, but its a dye ink printer, you wouldn't expect
that with dyes. Keep us posted on these, I'm curious to see how they
hold up. Frankly, I think you're gonna be printing with food-coloring
tinted panda bear piss, but I hope I'm wrong.
