OT - MIS spongeless carts on 2400

2007-05-29 by bfwoolner

I have just installed a full set of MIS spongeless carts on my 2400
printer. The lid covering the cartridges does not seat securely
causing it to pop up and bump into the right side of the printer when
the head moves back and forth. This in turn causes a red light to come
on for one or more of the installed MIS carts. I can reset, get a
green light and the printer seems normal until the head moves, lid pops
and hits the printer on the return to the right side. This is the first
time I have used MIS carts on this printer but have been very
successful in their use on several others.

No word yet from MIS on the problem. Has anyone experienced this? Is
there a work-around, trimming of the carts, anything?? I would not
like to have to go out and buy another set of OEM carts.

Thanks, any and all help.

Had the same problem, I fixed it with a 5cm long strip of adhesive tape.
I placed it on the left side of the lid. The tape is stong enough to
keep the lid closed.

Re:OT - MIS spongeless carts on 2400

Hello Barbara:

I experienced this myself just recently. The top of the cart cage just
would not latch on the R2400 after converting to MIS carts. I applied
some additional pressure on each cart on the latch side (the nozzle
side) and then pressed down on the latch cover, at the latch point, with
some pressure and got it to latch. I agree this was a tight fit. I hope
after a few refills the carts get "worked in" a bit to make this easier.

Thanks, Lou. I, too applied some additional pressure. My outcome
was different. The latch popped out allowing the lid to close without
pressure on the carts. The latch isn't exactly broken, just free
standing, as it were. Printer seems to be working ok but time will
tell.

Epson 1270 MIS UTFSN QTR Profiles

2007-05-30 by Paul Grant

I have recently started to use the MIS UTFSN inks in my old Epson 1270. So
far I have been pleasantly surprised by the results using the Epson Drivers.
I am curious if anyone out there has any experience using this ink and
printer combination with the Quadtone Rip. I still do most of my work in
the darkroom but as my favorite papers dissappear am in interested in
getting up to speed on the Digital BW workflow.

Thanks, Michael. I have added tape to my inadvertant solution.

I solved my problem by snipping off the very tip edge of the lever on
the chipside of the cart that is at the very top leading edge when
inserted fully. This allowed the cover to close and fasten securely.

THis also happens when using MIS spongeless cartridges in an R1800.
Solution: snip 1/16" off the top of the plastic spring latch. A
scissors will work just fine.

I have been in fear of breaking the cover since the first cartridge
swap out. (I did a changeover as each Epson cart ran out.)

The cover is REALLY tight to try to latch. I called MIS last week but
they acted as if they hadn't heard of this. In fact, they had no trim
suggestion--I'll try yours. The only answer they had was to remove the
cover since they do that with a CIS.
