That's not a head clog--run a nozzle check to reveal that. This looks like
an ink leak inside the printer. Say, from a bad cartridge or a
malfunctioning CIS or saturated waste pads, etc.

Subject: [Digital BW] I think I have my first clog

I'm in the middle of making several prints to send to a journal for
possible publication. I was printing BO on my 220, which I've had
very good luck with thus far. In a year of very light use I never had
a clog or any problem with it.

However, my last two images looked something like this:

Must be an ink leak, then. I'm using MIS spongeless carts (I bought
them prefilled). Not sure what to do from here?

it's just ink build-up on the heads. You have to release the head from it's park position and
move it back and forth over some paper towel with windex on it.
Not unusual.

Tyler et al,

Thanks a lot for your help. I'm sorry to say that I'm extremely
uninformed when it comes to the mechanisms of my printer. How do I
release the head from the park position (i.e. is there a trick to
releasing it, or does it happen easily)? Should the printer be on?

Is there a resource you're aware of that would help me learn how to do
this?

Chris

I hope someone else responds with some good advice.
I have not done this on anything but large format printers for a few
years now and have no idea the most convenient way to do it with your
model. Also, a bit slammed right now...
Anybody?
Tyler

Chris,

>How do I release the head from the park position

In my R200, just visible behind the back edge of the parked head, just
below the amber colored belt, is a white plastic part. Push that part
in with a pencil and the head can be moved out. When done cleaning
push the head back where it was. Best to have the printer off so it
doesn't
try to do something while you're working.

Clayton
