Cartridge not recognized

Cartridge not recognized

2007-09-16 by Stephen Kobrin

I just installed a new K7 cartridge in the Cyan position om ,y R 800
as it was out of ink. My R800 now refuses to accept the cartridge and
complete the cleaning cycle. The status monitor shows "incompatible
cartridge installed" and says the cartridges are not recognized. This
is my second set of K7 carts and I did not have a problem installing
the first. The strange thing is it now also shows the cart in the
yellow postion as out of ink. It is at least half full and did not
show out of ink in the status monitor before I changed the cart in the
cyan position. I have only replaced the cart in the cyan position. I
have a new yellow position cartidge, but am reluctant to replace the
exisiting one as it does seem to have quite a bit of ink in it.

I have cross posted this on the Piezography list, but there is not a
lot of action there.

Any ideas?

Steve

Chances are the chip is not being read correctly in the Cyan position
and can actually cause another position to give false too. Try
reinserting it a few times and see what happens, wiggle it around.

I have just spent the last week with the same issues on a 9800.
Cardboard wedges, tape on the bottom of carts, stand on one foot with
finger in ear....whateverittakes.
Damn that Epson!

Re: [Digital BW] Cartridge not recognized

2007-09-17 by Stephen Kobrin

Thanks Mark,

I jiggled, swore, etc, and then decided to put back the Epson carts.
Turns out it was the yellow. While it looked like it had a lot of ink
in it and did not show low before I put the Cyan in, I replaced the
yellow cart and all is well.

WHile I like the K7 inks, if I am going to have to replace the carts
when they are half full, this could get expensive. The 2400 is
looking like a better bet.

Thanks again for your rapid reply.

Steve
