Epson printers for BW in Australia ?

Epson printers for BW in Australia ?

2007-09-26 by Ronald K. Johnson

Hi, currently use HP8750 for my printing, pretty happy with BW and
Ilford papers.
I follow Paul Roark's pages with interest. Would like to try full BW
printing with MIS inks.
Problem is there is no epson R260 listed in Aus. Models available are,
C79, C87, R230, R390.
Is the R230 similar to R260 ?. The R390 would be an overkill as it
does direct from memory card printing.
The R230 uses T0491 .. T0496 carts, any info would be most helpfull,
Epson has used different model numbers for the same printers between
Aus and USA before.

I believe the R230 is most similar to the R220, but set up for
Australian power supply (240V instead of 110V).

If you search the list archives you'll find some previous discussions on
this subject. From memory, while the printers are similar, they use
cartridges with different part numbers (and possibly, therefore,
different chips -- take care!)

The C87 is equal to C88, R230 = R220 and finally R390 = R380.

Paul Roarke mentioned R260 is equal to the Asia Pacific model R270,
which share the engine as R380 but w/o the LCD display and card
reader.

Hope this helps.
