Two Ink Sets?

Two Ink Sets?

2001-08-18 by John Vitollo

Would it be overkill to have an 1160 with MIS Full Spectrum Inks to take
advantage of the Piezography driver and another with MIS Variable Mix Inks?
Or is the quality of the VM Inks/Curves so good I don't need the Piezography
driver? Yes I have two 1160s to play with!

John.
Sorry, I´m not able to answer this because I killed my 1270 while
installing the CIS (Chipversion) with the MVM-inks. (Printer now
reads e v e ry color cart "empty" - even a new Epson cart ).

But it leads to the question:
Are the 4 KCMY inks in the Variable Mix kit the same as in the
FullSpectrum kit ??
Who knows, Paul??
Thanks Bernd

I wish I could. But I have not used Piezography in a number of months as the
Cone inks clogged up my printer and CIS. Had to return my printer to Epson
for a refurb - used every trick in the book to unclog. Also the CIS black
ink line was completely clogged big time. I used the CIS syringe to unclog
it - took two pumps of the plunger to unclog and out came a thick paste. It
seems if the system is not used for a period of time the pigments separate
somehow into a paste! I have a new cart for the CIS so I want to start
fresh. Besides I'm low on inks and need either a new supply of Piezography
inks or Full Spectrum.

Anyway is it overkill to have both VM Inks and Full Spectrum Inks with the
Piezography driver?

That is distressing, not just for you, but for anyone wanting to use
a CIS with a chipped cart printer. Do you know why it happened, or
how to avoid it?

While doing the Windex trick on the head/capping station of my 1160 - I
noticed the Windex still puddled up after a number of head cleanings the
next day. So one of my theories is the Piezography inks are clogging the
capping station and therefore can not do a proper head cleaning.

Amazing,

I found that with the 7000, the Cone Piezography inks build up a thick nasty paste on the head cleaning pads and capping station. I continually have to clean them off or they get on the head and smudge up my prints. I have had no such problems with the MIS inks.

Bernd,

You asked:

>same as in the FullSpectrum kit ??

No. The black inks are the same, but the other positions' inks are
different.
