Paul's 4Ks inkset

Paul's 4Ks inkset

Paul,

In the original configuration of this inkset most of the inks are K4
inks. Only the PK is from the MIS PRO inkset (MIS MP-PK)Any reason why
the PK is not from the K4 inks?

Thx
Dario

It depends on the printer and purposes. The K4 PK is a lower load PK
optimized for the newer printers -- from about the R220 on. In those it'll
give a better glossy dmax. In 2200 and older, the MIS Pro PK will do
better.

Thx for the info Paul. Reason I asked is because both on a 2200 and a
7600 with all glossy papers I tried this PK seems to give me the best
dmax when printing with about 50% LK in the curve. I get about 2.3 with
Silver Rag and about 2.22 with the older Kirkland with that setup and
QTR. When used on its own PK only gives me about 2.18 with SR. Does
that sound reasonable?

A PKN will kick the dmax up higher than the standard PK from MIS. I have
made new ones for the modern printers (the 260 RC-PKN and PKC [cooler]).
However, I have never updated the old PKN, which is fine for the older
printers if not used in a BO printing mode. The old PKN is too cyan for a
midtone ink. The new RD-PKN and RC-PKC are made to be used either as K only
or in a BO mode.
