K2 100% carbon -- Eboni-LK test ink
2007-10-27 by Paul Roark
In my efforts to make larger, 100% carbon prints, I decided to test the theory that Eboni would not dilute to make a more neutral LK. While the standard base used for the UT inks causes a very interesting reaction with Eboni, and one I'm not sure I'd want in my printer, I've found another base that seems to work well. Whether the base will be available in quantity, hold the pigment in suspension, and keep it dispersed over the long haul is not known yet. However, right now my "Eboni-LK" is printing medium warm images that allow much better matte K2 100% carbon prints than does the standard MIS LK. I've put some tone and smoothness information on pages 8 - 10 of http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/K2-Eboni-LK.pdf And, pressing my luck, an Eboni-LLK test strip just came out of my 7500. Looks great.
