newbie terminology question

what is the name for the "pattern" ,"weave", "grid texture" that you see when examining an inkjet print through a loupe ? and, is it controllable - can it be made finer or less evident ? (I have 'error diffusion' and 'finest detail' checked on & 'high speed' unchecked off, if that makes any difference) thanks for answering such a basic question frankg
