Velvet Fine Art Ghosted in Mac R2400 Epson Driver, but Not Windows

Velvet Fine Art Ghosted in Mac R2400 Epson Driver, but Not Windows

2007-12-06 by Steve Bye

How do I select Epson Velvet Fine Art paper in the R2400 Epson driver
when printing from a Mac?

On my Windows PC I can select Epson Velvet Fine Art, Ultrasmooth, or
Watercolor Paper, but they are ghosted when I try to select these
papers in the Mac Epson driver. This is true with both the brand new
Leopard-compatible driver on a Leopard-based machine (driver available
on the UK Epson site, but not US yet) and the old Tiger driver on a
Tiger-based machine.

It seems like this must relate to front-loading. All three papers
trigger a warning about front loading on Windows. There is a setting
in the Windows driver to select Manual-Roll for this, but I cannot
find a way to set it in the Mac driver.

What gives?

Went through this last week. If the printer is a 3800, you must use
the rear loading slot, then it will show up.

Thanks. I got it.

I suspected something like this, but was unable to find where to
choose front loading. I just discovered it is chosen when choosing the
paper size. I hadn't expected to find it there.
