Scanner

I wanted a Nikon CoolScan scanner but couldn't afford it back in the day. I do all my scanning with a vintage Canon Canoscan FS4000US and I scan at maximum resolution (4000 dpi and 42 bit color depth) regardless of whether its a B&W or color image. I get a 128 meg file from 35 mm negatives. I do all cleaning and Photoshop work on the file at full resolution and then convert to 300 dpi (288 dpi, actually) for printing. Its slow, and I probably could learn more about how to use it, but so far it works for me. Hope it never breaks, however; Canon no longer lists this as a product it supports. JNW
