Dithering scheme?

Dithering scheme?

2008-01-31 by hflockwood

Some time ago, someone (Paul R.?) posted a comparison of the dithering schemes available
for printing in QTR. I'm unable to find where I put that note. Can anyone point me to it?

I did the tests and it seems it applies only to single jet BO
printing. In 3MK (3 jets firing) I could not notice any visible
difference between ordered and smooth.

Am I right here Clayton?

Thanks very much; that's the one I was looking for.

I don't know, as I only did the test that one time. But it sounds
like it from what you say. All it takes is a few tests with whatever
curves you're using to find which looks best.

Since the above posting I've run a comparison between Ordered and Hybrid Floyd-
Steinberg (HF-S) dithering (QTR + Piezo K7 + R2400). There is a subtle but noticeable
difference.

It appears that edges are more sharply defined using HF-S, with shadows running a bit
deeper. It might be necessary to do a very slight Curves correction to bring up the
shadows. But it may also depend on the image content as to whether this is required.

The tests I've done so far have been on EEM and HPR, which correlate very well with each
other. I'd be interested in hearing from others who may have looked into this.
