I looked at the specs for this new printer on the Epson USA site, but
could not find any mention of minimum drop size for the 1900. Is this
still a 1.5 pl printer or has this capability been removed?
The reviews have said it's a 1.5 pl printer.

Yes and now looking at the Epson UK site I see that 1.5 pl drop size
is specified there. Seemed strange that Epson USA removed this from
the spec list. Guess they chose to promote some other new features
instead.

The 1900 uses a new color arragement with respect to what were the blue
and red spots.
I assume Epson has gone to a new cartridge type. So, I'm also assuming
it'll be a while before third party carts are available. As such, for
B&W printing, it's not a machine to consider. I'm sure it's a fine
color printer with OEM inks.

Hi,
I have just saw the R1900 today at the Epson stand in Birmingham UK. Personally, I don't think it is in the same league as the R1800 on colour output. I would hang around for the new Ultra Chrome K3 ink printers. The K3 ink set is a better ink to the Hi-Gloss 2 inks fitted to the R1900, and K3 inks are used in all the Epson Professional printer models.
Though I must admit it looks more substantial than the R1800 and if you are after a new printer it is not a bad choice R1900.
