Coating canvas prints

Coating canvas prints

2008-03-06 by nocannibals

I have an exhibition that starts tomorrow night that I decided to print
on canvas. The prints came out really well and I'm very pleased with
them. My dilema is that I want coat them with a waterproof
protectorant but the kit that I bought won't do the job. I bought the
sample kit from PremierArt and when I applied Eco Print Shield coating
with a satin finish by roller, the roller lifted ink off of my test
print. Premier Art also has a spray on finish that would probably
eliminate this problem but I don't have time to have it sent to me.

Some of the local art stores (I live in Spokane, WA) have recommended
Krylon Crystal Clear as an alternative. My question is: does anyone
have any experience with Krylon? Also, what other alternatives are
there? For me, the alternative has got to be something that is widely
available as this city does not have the kinds of outlets that one
would find in Los Angeles of New York.

I'm using HP pigment inks on HP Artist Matte Canvas to print on. Any
sugestions would be appreciated.

Hi Harold,

Try Golden SoftGel (Gloss), diluted 1:2 with distilled water and
applied with a roller.

Good luck!
