Moab Somerset Velvet

Moab Somerset Velvet

2008-04-11 by Richard Smallfield

Hi,
I've been looking at the Moab Somerset Velvet page at Moab and wondered if anyone here had used it.

It's quite a lot more expensive that Entrada; I wondered what the colour and surface were like - anything like Epson Velvet?

thanks,
Richard

Hello Richard,

I've bought a box of Moab Somerset Velvet. It is a very different
paper. Best described here (Somerset Photo Enhanced):

For B/W I did not found it fitted my images. But for color I
absolutely love it and worth every penny.

This is the latest version of the same Somerset Velvet that has been
available for years (long before most other fine art papers, actually), it just came
under Moab's control when Moab became the digital media section of Legion
Paper.

What are your experiences with this as opposed to Epson Velvet? It sounds like the Epson has better dmax from what I've read.
