Digital BW, The Print

Sorry, if this is not appropriate.

I just found a Leica III (1934) that is in excellent condition.  I'd like to get a spot meter, do some "Zone" experiments, etc. & I see that you can spend lots of $ on them.  Any recommends?

--- CARL, I HAVE FOUND THAT a  spot meter has been extremely 
benificial for zone system photography. the ability to take multiple
readings from around the scene lets me predict film exposure and 
development needs very acurately. this is particulary so with sheet 
film where every sheet can be treated differently, but less so with 
roll film where all film is developed the same.

i use a sekonic L-778. it is the ultimate in functionality but rather 
expensive. i have had mine for about 6 years and it has performed 
flawlessly. i paid a lot back then and they are probably more now. 
maybe 600 to 700 dollars. there are less expensive ones. pentax and 
minolta make some. some are easier to use than others. mine has a 
zone scale and i can place the tonal range right where i want it.

if you are not a sheet film user i think you can do with a less 
expensive devise. hope this helps. larry
