Digital BW, The Print

I am using self-resetting cartridge chips in my R1800. In order to get
past the printer shutting down when the chip says the cartridge is
empty (it isn't), I need to disable the Status Monitor. However, it
appears the status monitor is built into the R1800 driver. Does
anyone know a way to get around that? Is there a version on the
driver that does not have the status monitor built in? I was not able
to find one on the Epson website.
