Questions about 2 printers---1400 and 3800

Hello All Couple questions... I am looking at replacing a 2200 that has failed. I have been using a hybrid mix of shades of grey inks on my 2200. Looking at 1400 and 3800. Please forgive this weird contrast of pricing, but they are each printers that have some advantages to my eye. 1400. I would fill my own carts with shades of black and make my own profiles. Is this a suitable printer for the new F type papers, or is this printer likely to cause pizza wheel marks? I believe this is a suitable printer for matte papers...I note that Jon Cone is enthused about it. But ideally I would like to use this for the F type papers. I personally am very enthused about the Ilford Gold Fibre Silk...but I sure do not want to go to the effort of profiling and find I am getting pizza wheel marks ruining my prints. 3800. Am I going to see much difference in smoothness with the standard inks when compared to a dedicated set of b&w inks with the 3800? or am I going to be happy with b&w output with standard inks and a good rip and profile,ie QTR. I assume this machine is much much better than earlier machines with standard inks. So I am wondering if users of 3800 have been happy with standard inks and b&w. 3800. Any pizza wheel issues on this machine? I have read Eric Chan's informative stuff, and he says the front feed is needed to eliminate pizza wheel marks...but Epsons presales tells me not to worry. Thanks in advance for any impressions and experiences you have with either of these printers. Phil Brouwer
