UT7 inkset clog from hell on my 2100....

2008-07-12 by David Meddings

Hi all,

I'm getting unusable prints on my 2100 (Euro version of 2200).
Running
the UT7 inkset through the MIS clear refillable carts since years and
used to
cleaning occasional clogs with Windex. This time after a fairly long
period of little use I have a single position that is just not
clearing.

I've tried Windex overnight and even bought the cleaning solution
from
fixyourownprinter.com and followed those instructions faithfully
twice
(each time trying both the injection through the printer nozzle and
leave overnight technique and the parking pad saturation and leave
overnight routine). Each effort followed by 3 nozzle cleans and a
nozzle check. Nozzle check remains bad and my most recent one shows a
few other channels not laying down correct ink patterns either. I've
tried printing
again just to see if that clears things and the prints are still
unusable.

I've done a little digging around and find some posts saying MIS
cartridges can also have air lock problems. How do I determine if
this
is a clog or an air lock issue? What, in either scenario, is the fix?

Frustrated here.....this printhead was replaced about a year ago and
I
don't want to do that again. At the same time, very happy with my
results using UT7 and QTR...

Any and all comments welcome,

Dave Meddings

Hi

A friend of mine with a 2100 little used had a similar problem which we thought were blocked
nozzles. As a last resort we had an idea it was a cart ink supply problem not a blockage. I got
him to use a bottom fill adapter on the offending cart to draw ink out. In fact the foam
sponge was saturated in ink foam / air. Did this a couple of times refilled cart and problem
was solved. Maybe this could be your problem. Hope this helps.

Peter.

Thanks Peter,

I leave on a business trip for a week starting tomorrow, but I'll
certainly give that a try. At this point I'm ready to try anything.

Best,

Dave
