Black only/Eboni-6 and QTR/1400

2008-09-05 by ymfamo

I have a st of Eboni-6 carts available for my Epson 1400 and would
like to print with this inkset using QTR. I was able to set up 3MK on
an R1800 via QTR, but the QTR/1400 combination has me befuddled
(easily done.)

How would I configure QTR for a one channel "black only" print on the
1400? Conversely, how would I configure QTR for a 6 channel "Eboni-6"
print?

Thanks very much in advance for any help.

Mike

QTR version 2.6.1 has the 1400 Black only profiles in it. It's ready
to go. Just scroll down on the printer Name to Epson Stylus Photo 1400
and scroll down on the QTR "Printing Model" to "Quad1400-MIS." The one-
ink black only profiles start with "MK" and end with "BO."

I've placed a few QTR profiles for the full Eboni-6 inkset in the
following Zip file:
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/1400-Eboni-6-Profiles.zip

In this file you'll see a standard QTR partitioning as well as what I
call my "Quad" file that just uses 4 inks. (The Zip has only the qidf
fifiles. Put them in the QTR 1400-MIS Profiles folder. Open them in
the Curve Creator -- Tools>Curve Creation -- and do a "save as" to make
the *.quad file that you need for printing.)

There is only one paper profiled, but it shows the basics. Read Tom
Moores' User Guide that is in the QTR download for an explanation of
how to make profiles.

Hi Paul,

I was able to convert your QTR curve "Eb6-Quad-1-PaBW-2880.qidf" to a usable form via
"save as" in Curve Creator. However when I try the same thing for your QTR curve "Eb6-
PaSmBW-qtr2880.qidf" I get the message "Invalid linearize curve-- not constantly
increasing. Curve creation failed." And so that curve remains unusable for me in QTRGui.

Suggestions?

Thanks so much.
