MIS carts for UT-14 problem

MIS carts for UT-14 problem

2008-10-05 by jimrohan2002

Just picked up an Epson 1400 and a set of UT-14 carts to mess around with.
First I installed the six Epson color carts to make sure everything worked ok with the
printer, which it did. So I popped in the UT-14 carts...and not a spec of ink came out of
them.
After many cleaning cycles and prints of purge files, a trace amount of ink appeared.
Switched back to the Epson color carts and everything worked great again. Switched
back to the UT-14 carts and nothing.
Anyone have any problems with these prefilled carts for a 1400?
Or am I missing something simple, like I need to remove one of the rubber plugs on the
cart?
Stumped.

If there is a vent hole it needs to be uncovered (bigger hole is for
putting ink in, smaller one is for venting). If you post a picture of
the cart it might be easier to help you.

Remove the black plug closest to the bottom of the cart, that is the air
vent.
I made the same blunder when I first got mind.

Of course, the air vent plug! Duh.
On my carts, these are multicolored plugs that correspond to the ink color.
I assume that if I want to refill these carts I would need to re-insert these plugs for that?
Thanks for the help.
