I've just downloaded and tried this plugin. With the standard Claria
inkset in an Epson 1400, on UPPM, the B&W is fairly neutral, looking
quite similar to CS3 with a gamma gray 2.2 input profile and UPPM
absolute colormetric output profile.
I have some gripes, though:
- Who the heck thought of this user interface? It's horrid.
- It only will accept RGB images? Why is that? What's wrong with Grayscale?
- It won't let me define custom paper sizes (as far as I can tell -- as
I said, the user interface is difficult ("Let's see just how many small
intricate controls we can cram on the screen at one time"). I like to
proof on quarter sheet, and the closest it has is 3x5.
Anyway, it does produce good output, but I think if I had a QTR profile
for UPPM, it would do as well (I only found a PGPS profile and BO
profile in QTR; if anyone knows about a QTR UPPM/Claria profile, I'd
like to try it). And yes, I know, Eboni with the 1400 with the BO
profile in QTR is supposed to be very good, but I haven't quite
convinced myself that I really want to have two different inksets, and
purging ink lines, etc., etc.
