best black ink refil solution for Epson r265?

best black ink refil solution for Epson r265?

2008-11-06 by dsfsdfsdaasdfdfdfd

Hi,

I've been printing Black Only with an Epson r265 and am delighted with
the quality. I've been using Epson black ink cartridges but I've
decided I want to make lots of prints, so I'm looking for a refillable
solution. There are lots of websites around that sell refillable
cartridges e.g.

http://www.laserdesigns.co.uk/ldcm_refillable_ink_cartridges_info.html

and lots of places that sell ink e.g.

http://www.fotospeed.com/Fotospeed-Universal-Crystal-Dye-(Epson)/products/2461/

Can anyone advise me on which to buy? I have seen a lot of
recommendations for Eboni ink, but looking at the inksupply.com
website I don't think they have cartridges for the r265. Can I just
buy the Eboni ink and put it in a different cartridge? I have heard
that there may be problems running pigment ink in the r265 since it
was designed for dye ink - is that true? I am tempted by the products
on cityinkexpress - either the dye refill kit

http://cityinkexpress.co.uk/R265-Dye_ink_cartridge_for_Epson_R265.html

or the pigment one

http://cityinkexpress.co.uk/R265-Pigment_Ink_cartridge_for_Epson_R265.html

Would either of these give results of similar quality to the original
Epsom cartridges? I'm quite happy to play about with different
profile settings, as long as I can get a good result in the end!

Thanks for any advice.

MJ

I use Eboni in a 260 on a daily basis. It works fine. The 265 carts
are probably the same, but the chips are probably different. As long
as you have an empty and clean cart that fits and has the right chip,
you should be able to refill with Eboni. Don't try to refill a cart
that has residual ink in it. There could be incompatibilities. So, if
you can buy an empty, new refillable cart for the 265, that's the
safest way to go.

Additionally, when the auto-reset chips from, for exmaple, MIS are used
on only some of the carts, and OEM Epson chips are on the others, the
system detects the difference and will not print. So, the chips have
to be of the same type on all carts. In that respect, I also use MIS
color pigments in the 260 in refillable carts.
