Cleaning out system before change of Inkset

Cleaning out system before change of Inkset

2008-11-22 by arthurkrick

I am proposing to load PR's Eboni-6 into either an Epson 1400 (currently running Claria) or
possibly an Epson 2400 ( currently running Ultra Chrome K3 )

Is there any advantage in using the 2400 which is set up for pigment rather than the 1400
which is set up for dye? (I suspect that there may not be)

I have virgin sets of refillable carts for both printers and it is my intention to fill the
appropriate set with a suitable fluid for flushing the system before loading the Eboni -6 inks.

I am in the UK and am wondering if there is something such as distilled water & rinse aid that
I could mix up and use as a flushing fluid.

Any thoughts or recommendations on these two questions gratefully received .

I'd probably set the 1400 up with Eboni-6 and leave the 2400 as a K3
for color and glossy.

Thank you for that opinion Paul.

I am certainly very pleased with my other 1400 running Claria so to standardise and have the
second with Eboni-6 makes sense.

As it happens, I have had major clogging problems with the 2400 in the past so that machine
may be departing for pastures new sometime soon!

However, one final point if I may; do you have any recommendations as to a concoction which
I can use in the 1400 refillable carts to flush through the present Claria inks before loading
the second 1400 with Eboni-6 ? I was thinking distilled water/ Rinse aid or even distilled
water/ Isopropyl.

Many thanks,

Arthur Krick

Distilled water would be compatible with the next inks you put in the
carts. Any other chemical introduces unknowns.
