Paul Roark's R1800 3-MK setup

Paul Roark's R1800 3-MK setup

2008-11-22 by p5198

I've just taken an Epson-refurbished 1800 out of the box, and am about
to set the cartridges in place. The MIS Eboni carts for the three
black/glop positions arrived today, and I was about to put the printer
to the test when one of the recent posts put me on to Paul's article
"Eboni-6" dated 11-17-08.

Paul, though you are speaking of the 6-Eboni workflow, you say
"Eboni-6 and UltraChrome should not mix on the Parking pads." Since
this 1800 will be printing colour as well as BO, I wonder if you've
had second thoughts on the practicability of the 1800 as a
dual-purpose printer. I waited for and bought the 1800 with the idea
that it would be ideal for a one-printer setup, but I think I'll keep
the carts in their wrappers until you comment. I'd hate to pile up
gunk on the pads.

Eboni and the color inks are no problem. It's the base used to
dilute the Eboni that MIS thinks could be a problem with the
UltraChrome inks.

I think it does make a very good color + B&W matte paper printer.

Thanks for the reassurance, Paul! Your ingenuity and persistence have
brought us a long way over the last several years. Much obliged.
